About Us

EHVI (Eritrean Hearing & Visually Impaired) is a non-profit organization created in January 13, 2015. EHVI is a collaborative organization of Eritreans from USA, Canada, and Europe. EHVI is a 501(c)3 licensed organization and holds its registration in the state of Georgia, USA. EHVI is a non-profit, beneficial to Eritrean Hearing & Visually persons and other interested individuals, organized for the purpose of advancing the economic, educational, employment, social equality, and just rights and privileges as Hearing & Visually impaired, and improving the morale among such individuals.

WHAT WE DO

Eritrean Hearing & Visually Impaired (EHVI) employs awareness as a strategy to educate the public in order to proclaim Eritrean hearing and/or visually impaired members by raising public awareness, EHVI believes Eritrean hearing and/or visually impaired members will have our rightful share of all benefits due as residents of United States of America, Canada and Europe to advance our social and economic welfare, to secure the best educational opportunities, to reduce isolation from our communities, to improve our morale, and competence, hereby ordain and establish this constitution, along with an affiliate status with the Eritrean-American Hearing & Visually Impaired and sisterly nation of the State of Eritrea.

OUR MISSION

EHVI aspires to promote a keen awareness about Hearing & Visually impairment challenges in the Eritrean communities across the globe. EHVI also aspires to harness Eritrean professional capabilities in all fields to come together and do their part. EHVI provides regular awareness articles about Eritrean Deaf-Blind. It also promotes activities for our members, including private monthly dinners, mentorship opportunities, networking events and job opportunities. EHVI also maintains a daily listserv, monthly newsletter and community service projects for its members.

MEET THE TEAM

EHVI is a collaborative organization of its founding members from USA, Canada and Europe. At present, EHVI has a Steering Committee consisting of 7 persons; a chair and vice chair, a secretary and vice secretary; a treasurer; financial advisor and other task teams. EHVI constantly seeks prominent Eritrean-Diaspora activists with full capability in their areas of expertise. All in all, EHVI is geared to cultivate a professional capacity to achieve its goals. Also, as EHVI grows, it estimates to have more than 200 card holding public members by 2015.
